► Mature Students' Officer Manifesto
Sheila Leatherdale – Mature Student Rep
Are you aware that over 25% of students attending Kingston University are over the age of 25? These are all defined as mature students.
I am a mature student who has returned to study after many years working in the IT industry. The adjustment to university life was scary, interesting and at times difficult. Ever felt like a fish out of water?
The university has recognized that some mature students have issues at the start of their student life and have over the last eighteen months done much to improve the start of this life and the time thereafter.
A mature students society has been set up to provide social events and get togethers, where students can meet like minded people, have a chat, air issue and have a good time (some of which involves drinking copious amounts of wines).
I have decided to put myself forward for the post of mature student representative as I would like to work with the University and Student Union to give mature the best possible experience of life at Kingston University. I want to take suggestions from students as to how we can improve this and represent them at the students Union.
If you feel the same way please vote for me in the upcoming student elections.
