► Feedback

You said - we did

Every year the Students’ Union hold their annual services survey where they ask students for their opinions on the SU.  As a result of that survey, we have some important feedback for you:

You said:  There isn’t a society that I want to join.

You only need 10 other students to start your own society based around any interest.  The SU will then provide funding and support to get your society of the ground.  For more information visit www.kusu.co.uk/societies

You said:  I want an Oystercard machine on campus.

We’ve looked into this and unfortunately due to current licensing laws we’re unable to have one at any site.  We believe that the Mayor of London is considering loosening these restrictions in the near future.

You said:  I want the SU to provide more events throughout the year.

We’re holding a series of events for ‘Refresher’s Week’ (more information about this is available in Refresh magazine or on this Website) and we also hold regular nights in our bars and all our sports clubs and societies provide regular social events.  We’re also open to ideas and have a big focus on student led events; you should contact Nicola Skevington on n.skevington@kingston.ac.uk.  Also visit www.kusu.co.uk for a list of our events.

You said:  I want the Kingston Hill shop to sell more groceries and clothing.

We’re introducing/squeezing in groceries this term to the shop at Kingston Hill.  We’re also going to start selling KU branded clothing in Knights Park Bar and Hannaford’s.  It’s already available to buy online with free delivery at www.kusu.co.uk/shop!

You said:  I’m a mature/postgraduate student… what is there for me?

ALL students can use any service from the Students’ Union.  There is also nothing stopping you from starting your own society (see above). Student Services have also created a Mature Students Online Forum, via the 'One Community' online network. For more details, contact Laura Roberts - L.Roberts@kingston.ac.uk

You said:  I’m only here for one year, therefore the sports membership isn’t worth it.

The sports membership cost of £30 plus £5 per club is only valid for one year.  This money is a contribution towards entry, match and session fees, insurance whilst carrying out your activity, facility hire, experienced coaching, affiliation to national governing bodies, equipment, and subsidy of trips and administration of all sporting activity.  We’re always looking into better ways to fund sports.  We’re also applying the pressure to the University to invest more money into sports.

You said:  We need a cash machine at Kingston Hill!

Good news!  Planning permission for a new cash machine at Kingston Hill was recently approved, and we’re working with the University to get one, possibly two, installed sometime in February/early March.
