Welcome to Student Volunteering Week 18th-24th February 2012!
Join students and university staff from around the country celebrating this exciting week. KUSU Volunteering have lots of volunteer taster sessions for you to try, plus check out of blog to see what other volunteers have been up to.
Activities
Thursday 23rd February:
Knit For Peace
When: 11am-1pm (Knights Park Campus) and 1:30-3pm (Penrhyn Road Campus)
Where: Knights Park Reception (1st Session) KUSU Offices, Penrhyn Road Campus (2nd Session). Come to a whole session, both sessions or just drop in!
What: Knit For Peace is a charity which gathers people together to get different groups of people talking as they knit for good causes, such as Special Care Baby Units, toys for children in hospital and clothes for babies in Sierra Leone.
What else do I need to know?: Don't worry if you can't knit, we'll teach you!
Do I need to book?: No, just show up! Bring your friends!
We're looking for expereinced knitters to start a Knit For Peace group at the uni, come along and/or check out their blog to find out more!
Friday 24th February: Making charity bunting
Where: KUSU Offices, Penrhyn Road campus
When: 11am-2pm. Drop in any time or come for the whole session.
What: charity and community groups have asked us to help them create bunting for summer events, including the Queen's Jubilee! We'll be cutting out fabric triangles and sewing them on to create strings of beautiful bunting.
What else do I need to know?: You don't have to be able to sew!
Do I need to book?: No, just turn up! Bring your friends!
