As your Vice President Activities for 2011/2012, I am here to represent every student in a sports club, a society or the volunteering scheme, and to encourage you to get involved while at university. They are all great ways of enhancing your CV, making new friends, and most importantly, having fun!
I work with the Sports Co-ordinators in both the Union and University and am part of the Sports and Societies Working Groups to make sure your voice is heard. I also help organise the sports and societies tours’, the monthly Sports Night Out, and the end-of-year Sports, Societies and Volunteering awards ceremonies, where we recognise your achievements!
This year I hope to introduce more opportunities for students to take part in extracurricular activities while also working with the other elected officers to promote what KUSU can offer you.
I will be running a campaign to raise awareness of the opportunities available and to encourage students to get involved, as well as working with students on ideas or issues they may face.
I’ll be around during fresher’s week, fresher’s fair, and contactable in the KUSU offices for the rest of the year; so don’t be shy, come and have a chat! As a student officer I want to hear what you have to say, so feel free to drop me an e-mail or pop into the office.
University is the best place to try something new, join a sports club, society or help out by volunteering! Getting involved was one of the best things I could have done - I have had a great experience by being involved with KUSU so far, met some amazing people and seen some great places along the way!
